PDFCat is a fast and lightweight catalog management application to keep track of PDF documents coming in through many possible ways. This is not meant to be a highly available solution for complex and unified cataloguing. Instead, it aims to provide a better user experience. The unique feature of this software is its ability handle documents stored on removable devices.

So far the application was designed to work with Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). The reason is popularity and great amount of information available in this format.

From release 1.0.7 PDFcat becomes more powerful: it recognizes the other document types such as:

  • HTML
  • Microsoft Word
It provides text preview for documents added to catalog (if document is accessible) and possibility to update their metadata. Elegant way to search documents by keywords, subject or author pattern let you find them quickly. It is also important to mention that PDFcat has been integrated with Linux (GNOME/KDE) and Windows desktops. It can recognize browsers you use to let you see documents you downloaded recently from the web and put them in appropriate catalogs. It seats in your system tray and can be invoked instantly when needed.
